Growth Performance, Nutrient Digestibility and Haematological Parameters of Red Sokoto Goats Fed Sabara (Guiera senegalensis) Leaf Meal
Authors
Abstract:
The objectives of the study were to evaluate the effects of Sabara leaf meal on growth performance, nutrient digestibility and haematological parameters of red Sokoto goats. Bucks were managed in a complete randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replicates. The Sabara leaf meal (SLM) was fed at concentration of 0, 10, 20 and 30% in treatment 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively. The experimental diets and clean drinking water were offered to the animals ad libitum. Initial body weights were all similar. Bucks fed diets with 10 and 20% Sabara leaf meal (SLM) gained weight (P

This study was undertaken to compare the efficiency of fresh and frozen-thawed buck semen on in vitro fertilization (IVF) of goat oocytes. Cumulus oocytes complexes (COCs) were collected by aspiration of 2-6 mm diameter follicles, which were obtained from slaughterhouse. Upon grading, only normal quality COCs were maturated in TCM-199 for 48 hours. The percentage of COCs reached to the M-II sta...
full textGrowth performance and some haematological parameters of ornamental striped catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) fed on dietary nucleotide
The effects of dietary nucleotide (NT) on growth performance and some haematological parameters of striped catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) were investigated. Different levels of the NT (0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1%) in the diet were used for 10 weeks starting on the fish weighted (1.52 ± 0.11 g). The results showed that NT supplementations did not improve final weight, weight gain, food conserv...
full textGrowth performance, carcass characteristics, nutrient digestibility and fecal odorous compounds in growing-finishing pigs fed diets containing hydrolyzed feather meal.
This study was designed to determine the effects of hydrolyzed feather meal inclusion on growth performance, carcass characteristics, nutrient digestibility and fecal odorous compounds in modern lean growth genotype pigs. Two hundred forty pigs (BW = 23.2 +/- 1.3 kg) were allotted based on BW and sex to a 2 x 6 factorial arrangement of treatments (four pens per treatment; five pigs per pen) in ...
full textDietary putrescine effects on performance parameters, nutrient digestibility, intestinal morphology and tissue polyamine content of broilers fed low protein diet
This study was carried out to investigate the effects of dietary putrescine (PUT) on broiler’s response fed low crude protein (CP) diets. A total of 192 male day old chicks were fed with four dietary treatments including two levels of PUT (0 and 0.03%) and two levels of CP (normal and low) with factorial combinations. Weekly growth performance, nutrient digestibility and intestinal morphology (...
full textHaematological and serum biochemical parameters of rabbits fed varying dietary levels of water spinach (Ipomoea aquatic) leaf meal
Twenty four rabbits of mixed breeds aged between 10-12 weeks, weighing between 900 – 1000g were used in an experiment to determine the effect of feeding varying dietary levels of water spinach (Ipomoea aquatica) leaf meal on haematological and serum biochemical parameters of rabbits. The rabbits were randomly allocated into four treatments, T1, T2, T3 and T4 containing 0%, 5%, 10% and 15% of wa...
